As many of you may know. Michelangelo was an amazing human being and did many famous artworks including the roof of the Sistine chapel. I am Michel's nephew, and therefore witnessed and assisted him with many of his works, awards and achievements. He was born on March 6, 1475, at Caprese, in Tuscany and was the second of five brothers. During the years he spent in the Garden of San Marco, Michelangelo began to study human anatomy. In exchange for permission to study corpses (which was strictly forbidden by The Church), he gave the Santo church a wooden crucifix.

My uncle, Michelangelo Buonarroti, was unmatched as an artist, and unlike many artists in our time, he was well recognised for his masterpieces.

Michaelangelo was very important durng the time of the Renaissance due to the many contributions to religion and public meeting places including the painting of the roof in the Sistene Chaple which was done in fresco stile, (painting on wet plaster). Michaelangelo was also very important because he introduced his own personal style to the world of art and he also painted and carved the pope's tomb which was obviously a very serious and important work of his. I remember he would spend hours on his works and he would have no breaks, he seemed mesmorised by art and I would end up giving him food every now and then.

Achievements of his include the wooden crucifix in the church of Santo which was given as a gift in return for the study of corpses, the painting of the sistene chaple ceilings, which was of the twelve apostles, and amazing feat in that he painted on his back, he also decorated the pope's tomb by carving figures of Moses and two prisioners and he compleated a statue called the Pieta, which depicted Mary weeping over Jesus after he was crucified.
